Day 7

I woke up with an aching neck! Must be the pillow!
Exactly one week in Mumbai now.
Another day at Bandra Kurla Complex. The taxi driver didn't know where Citigroup is but he sounded so confident as if he knew! He took me to ICICI Bank. I have to show him the way instead!
There was a long queue outside the building. Security check was a bit slow or was it because it was 0925hrs and everyone happened to be on time and wanted to clock in on the dot?
Today's training was focused on investments. I spent the time before lunch doing teh powerpoint presentation to show Anjali for the training session scheduled next week. I intended to share with her some of the teaching practices which I did over in Singapore.

Deepika has arranged for a branch visit. I'm looking forward to this. I had enough of Bandra and wanted to see other functions of Citigroup. She also arranged for me to follow the sales team on Thursday for a few hours of meeting customers. Sounds so exciting!
No need for me to go Bandra as after that i'll have to go to the call centre later in the evening. It seems i'll have my hands full on Thursday.

Mumbai Time:1230hrs

I went to the cafeteria at 1230hours. Guess what? The food's not ready yet. I asked the lady what time do they serve lunch and she told me lunch starts at 1330hrs. Is it because that they start work late here that the lunch is also pushed back?
Starting work late has its advantages. First, I do not have to wake up in a rush. Secondly, I have time for a proper breakfast. Thirdly, I even have time to read the daily as well watch the headlines on TV!
Starting late means you have to end late. I don't like the idea of ending my day when the sun had already set. That translates to a late dinner. I usually reached the hotel by 1930hrs. The moment i'm back, I'm usually totally crashed out. It's a funny feeling but I think the traffic really worn me out. And the cycle just repeats again the next day.

Mumbai Time: 1400hrs

I had another Indian veg lunch today. I went lunch by myself. Deepika was not in the office as she had to attend to some businesses. I exited from the 2nd floor and proceeded to the 3rd. No access. I was stuck in the stair well. Minutes later, the door opened, thanks to some Citibankers who had just finished their lunch. I rushed quickly in before the door closes. Lunch costs Rs 20 about $1.60. Cheap!!! Cheap!!! Ever since, I stepped on Mumbai, lunch has been courtesy of Citibank (ie FREE!!!) but today was an exceptional case. After lunch, i had to linger in the stair well again for a kind soul to open the door to the 2nd floor. Security is so tight here that i feel like a prisoner! They did not even issue any TEMP or VISITOR PASS. The coffee boy has a pass but why can't they issue one to me?

No Smoking Area.
Snapshot of a notice in the stair well.

The weather was terribly hot today. I could feel the heat searing through the glass windo at where i was sitting.
The meeting with the Principal had been pushed to 1630hrs. I almost completed the section on "Compliance". Must persevere.

I borrowed Deepika's pass and ventured outside the office during my break. I saw a group of men playing cricket in the field immediately opposite the office. The weather was not as hot as lunch time. I guessed because it's evening now.

The Road Outside BKC Office.
It reminds me of Tuas.
